Meet Our Lesson Horses - and more!

Picture

"Babe"
(That'll Do, Pig)

The teeny tiniest pony you ever did see, Babe is our miniature horse and the Tiny Tots representative of the barn!  She is the perfect confidence builder and playmate for our youngest riders, and she loves to get attention from everybody around her.  Babe is a "seen it all" kind of pony, and is not phased by children who are loud, energetic, or like to play with toys when they ride.  She is ready and waiting to take the littlest riders on an arena adventure!

"Clay"
(Wings of Fire)

Our most recent auction rescue, meet Clay!  The adorable Quarter Horse is getting up there in years, but still has so much energy and enthusiasm that he is eager to share with everyone around him.  He is the first to run to the pasture gate when you arrive, and is very interested in how many cookies he can find in a single ride.  Still transitioning into the lesson program, Clay spends most of his time training with Coach Maddie and the Working Students while getting love and attention from everyone.  Be sure to say 'hello' to Clay!

"Bellatrix"
(Straight Outta Azkaban)

Bellatrix is a small pony that we adopted from Fox Lea Rescue to give her a new lease on life! Originally from a kill pen in Texas, this little gal is sweet as a button and incredibly friendly.  She is quiet-natured and perfect for young riders just starting out, but when asked she can rev up the engine and go jump around a course of crossrails with a more advanced kiddo! She is the perfect fit for everyone (if you're small enough, of course!). She loves going off on adventures!

"LittleRose"
(A Rose By Any Other Name)

Our gentlest barn sweetheart, meet LittleRose!  A stunning red roan Quarter Horse mare, LittleRose is the definition of sweet and kind.  She loves to meet everyone who comes to the barn and share a nice cuddle, and she's always interested in treats!  In lessons, she's the type who likes to take her time and loves to ride bareback.  She is an excellent confidence builder for our students, new and old!

"P.T. Barnum"
(The Greatest Showman)

The old man in the barn, meet Barnum!  Rescued from the slaughter pipeline, this older Hackney pony has had a tough life before moving in with us.  He has become a snuggly sweetheart who tends to strut around like a peacock for his girlfriend, LittleRose.  In lessons, Barnum mostly does walk work with small or new riders, but don't let his age fool you - he can really fly around the ring in his fancy trot and even pops over small jumps!

"Geralt & Dandelion"

GOATS! Meet our two lovely Nigerian Dwarf farm goats, who are ever-playful and ALWAYS checking your pockets to see if your brought any treats for them.  Geralt is a chocolate brown and a very confident leader, while Dandelion is a spotted paint and incredibly friendly.  These two little rascals bring a little more fun to the farm, and are always up for a visit and lots of good scratchies.  Feel free to stop in and play for a bit!

"Rohan"
(Forth Eorlingas)

The boss of the barn, Rohan is our experienced Been-There, Done-That fella! This loveable Quarter Horse has had jobs ranging from western ranch work to cross-country jumping.  He appreciates a good mosey around the arena with our newer riders, with enough power and talent to keep even our most advanced eager for more.  His favorite activity is a long, long ride on the trails. If you enjoy adventure and a personal connection, Rohan is your guy!

"Salem"
(Little Bit O' Black Magic)

As curious as a cat and an absolute sweetheart in the barn, meet Salem!  He's a one-eyed Welsh pony that we found at a horse auction in really bad shape, so we decided to bring him home.  Now, he's feeling better than ever!  Salem is a solid teacher for walk/trot/canter and fantastic to jump.  He also enjoys walking the trails or having a good gallop across the meadow, and is such a blast at off-property events!  He always gives 100% to everything he does and is so fun!

"Skipper"
(Little Skipper Dipper)

Our youngest in the barn and the most thorough at checking everyone's pockets for treats, meet Skipper!  Our resident halflinger mare loves attention and tries to play with every object she can reach from her stall door.  Under saddle, Skipper has a pep-in-her-step style and loves to pop over every jump imaginable, with room to spare!  She is curious, brave, and just the biggest 'pay attention to me' lovebug in the barn.  She's always happy to say 'hello' to all!
Picture

"Tonka"
(Tonka Toy)

The newest gal in the barn, meet Tonka!  A pinto pony mare, Tonka is a fast and fiesty jumping machine.  She loves to get involved in everything and is our most enthusiastic 'sport pony', preparing to debut her skills this season in 3-Day Eventing competitions!  In the barn and pasture she is usually gentle, sweet, and just a touch on the timid side.  Please make her feel welcome with some gentle attention and a treat if you see her - we want her to feel right at home here!
Picture

"Ziggy"
(Ziggy Stardust)

Coach Maddie's personal horse, meet Ziggy!  The silliest paint pony you ever did see.  Ziggy loves to play in the field with his friends, eat lots of apples, and say hello to new people.  Ziggy does not participate in student lessons, but works privately with Coach Maddie.  He is energetic and opinionated, and just LOVES to jump!  Feel free to give Ziggy a "hello" and a good scratch on the neck when you see him!
Picture

"Hiccup"
(Guardian of Berk) (1/1/2000 - 6/15/2022)

The horse that started it all, Hiccup was Coach Maddie's personal horse for the last seven years.  In the time he and Maddie spent together, Hiccup transformed from a skinny rescued stallion into a powerful, energetic showjumper and trailblazer.  He did musical performances and worked at liberty. He most enjoyed a fast and furious gallop through the pastures or a good scritchy-scratch.

The Barn Meownager

"Belle"
(Tale As Old As Time) (10/21/1991 - 11/17/2022)

The senior sweetheart of the barn, Belle used to be the guide for our younger and smaller riders who were just starting out.  She was ever patient and incredibly kind to everyone, and brought so much love and laughter into the barn.  She loved to go for walks through the field and eat apples, and would often smack her lips together at her stall door to announce when she wanted treats.  She was well loved.
