For those enrolled in riding lessons, riders must have/wear:
  • A well-fitting riding helmet that meets current ASTM/SEI standards (no bicycle helmets permitted).
  • Appropriate footwear with a smooth sole and a 1"-1.5" heel (ex: tall riding boots, paddock boots, cowboy boots).
  • Long pants (ex: breeches, jods, jeans, leggings) and all clothing should fit well and be appropriate for the weather and activity.  Clothing that exposes a lot of skin on the legs/torso will not be permitted.
We highly recommend wearing riding gloves (not cotton/fleece winter gloves, as these are slippery) but it is not required.

References / Extra Materials:

Skill Charts: A list of skills that each student will learn to "master" in their own time.  "Mastery" is obtained by being able to perform a skill at least three times without any verbal or physical assistance from the instructor (with a minor exception for something too heavy/high up for a student to access).  Skills are divided amongst different levels, and a student is not permitted to advance to the next level (riding or otherwise) until all skills from the current/previous levels have been mastered.  Our goal is for students to be confident, self-sufficient, and to have a well-rounded equestrian education to carry with them in their future endeavors!
